Mistress of Fire - Coloured

Got around to colouring the lineart. Thought I'd play around a bit more with my skin colouring techniques. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it at last. There's a few things I'd like to improve that I can see aren't quite right, but generally I'm happy with how it turned out. :)

Sophia Landi, Mistress of Fire - Fanart

Randomly felt like doing some fanart of/for the stunningly beautiful and talented mistress of fire, Sophia Landi.
Don't have access to Photoshop at the moment, so only got the line art for it at the moment. May colour it at a later date.

This was heavily inspired by the art of the wonderful Frank Cho.

Life Drawing - from Terms 1 & 2

I haven't been able to get pictures of my life drawing until recently, so here you'll see the better drawings from the 6 sessions over the course of this year.

I apologise for the quality of some of the photographs... I've tried to make them as clear as I can.

(originally sketched using biro, and the alcohol in the markers reacted badly with the biro, so that's why there's weird random blotches of purple)

FMP Location Drawing - Wildwood & Vanishing World

Here are some more quick sketches done on location at Wildwood, Kent. I appologise for the bad photographic quality. The lighting in my room is pretty poor for photos of drawings.

The following were done in Vanishing World Exotic Petshop just next to Wildwood. They have some cool animals in there... but I can't help but question their ethics regarding the captivity and breeding of their animals... anyway...

West Side Story - Fake Poster

For uni we had to choose one musical/opera from four. I chose to work on West Side Story simply because it's not something I would normally work on. It's just to happy and bouncy... and yet I stil managed to make it dark. Haha.
I decided not to focus on the rather superficial bouncy and happy side of the film/show, and more on the deeper, darker more racist and dangerous side of the film/show.

The final review of the poster with the class and my tutors went unbelievably well. I was expecting them to say something about how it's nice that I didn't go for the usual looking poster for it, but I was NOT expecting them to be so astoundingly pleased with it. they didn't say a bad thing about it and just couldn't say enough good! I simply stood there gobsmacked.

Without further ado, here's the final poster. It was printed out A2 sized for the review/crit.

FMP Location Drawing - Natural History Museum

Yesterday me and my boyfriend went to the Natural History Museum to gather more research for my final major project... and boy did we get some!
I did plenty of drawings, tooks plenty of notes, managed to get around almost all of the museum and gathered loads of info on my Nature+ card for future reference.
Without further ado... I present some of the sketches I did, most of which were done in the Mammal Exhibit. My personal favourite is the sketch of the Quoll. :)

FMP Location Drawing - Richmond Park

As research for my final major project, I decided to walk up to Richmond Park which is just a short walk from where I live, and drew a lot of the wildlife that I saw there. I only really managed to draw the waterbirds and deer, though I did do a few of the jackdaws, but they ended up all smudging and looking pretty crap.

 

What You Deserve

Just a personal piece that I've been working on. This is actually the first proper personal piece of art I've done for a loooong time, and it feels good to finally do something for me. It's not really a vent of any emotion, even though it may look it, it's just a nice (yes, nice) piece of art for arts sake.

The character isn't anyone in particular, just a rather well toned, attractive long-haired man. There's been a little cpnfusion over whether it's 2 men or not. It's actually meant to be the same guy, just in two different phases of his struggle. I was going to do three phases, but I couldn't put it in without making it look overcroweded.

This was heavily inspired by listening to NIN more or less non-stop for the last couple of weeks. haha. That band is insanely inspirational.

 

The brown one is my favourite one of the three I think. :)
